About Victor

Mitchell Family
A LOVING FAMILY LIFE

Vic and Amy Mitchell are thankful to have chosen Colorado as their home to raise their three children. The foundation of the Mitchell family is based upon honesty, integrity, and compassion, along with an outdoors lifestyle.

ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY

Vic and Amy participate in many opportunities to serve their community. Amy taught Sunday school at Saint Thomas More Church for years, and Vic aids the Douglas County Senior Foundation. In addition, Vic and Amy — in conjunction with local law enforcement — helped launch Project Lifesaver in Douglas County. This program supplies GPS bracelets to Alzheimer’s patients, who often have a propensity to wander. Vic is a member of both the Castle Rock Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club.

PROVEN BUSINESS LEADER

Vic started out modestly by founding a transportation company in 1987 to pay for college and support his legally blind mother. Two years ago, he sold his fifth successful business, a national telecommunications company. Among other recognitions, this company was named "Colorado Small Business of the Year" by the Denver Chamber of Commerce. Vic currently serves on two Boards of Directors: his alma mater, San Diego State University’s Business College, and the Colorado Leadership Program of the Rockies

A MESSAGE FROM VIC

"Communication is vital among our citizens within this widespread district.  I promise to make communication a primary part of my service to you while in the State Legislature. I pledge to keep you updated with what’s going on at our State Capitol, and how it will affect our community.

"I look forward to learning more about your concerns for our district as well as our state.  You can call or write me anytime to educate me about issues you care about.  Please also send me an e-mail so that I have your contact information (Victor@VictorMitchell.org).

"I pledge to provide you with honest, professional and thorough service. I will be accessible to you, and stay in touch, so that House District 45 has the best representation possible for all of our citizens.

Since he was 21 years old, Mitchell has been self-employed, launching one successful business venture after another. By 1991, he was operating a full-service business, Advantage Cellular, and over the proceeding years won numerous awards for both growth and innovation. After the company was successfully sold to Verizon Wireless in 1995 (formerly AirTouch Cellular), AT&T Wireless began courting Mitchell to move to the Colorado market to replicate his success. Mitchell moved to Denver in January 1996 and began what has become one of the largest and most successful wireless distributors in the United States. Mitchell's concept was to assist "mom and pop" retailers by aggregating their selling power to procure favorable fees and rights from the national service providers. After years of dramatic growth and profitability, including several diverse acquisitions, the Advantage companies were successfully acquired by a group of private investors in early 2004. At the time of the acquisition, thousands of retailers sold under the Advantage Wireless umbrella including 114 Advantage Wireless branded locations. The firm today operates in over 32 cities across 30 states. In addition, Advantage Wireless' employees profited millions through an Employee Stock Ownership Program Mitchell had implemented.

Mitchell's latest venture came about in late 2003 when he acquired a wireless data service provider which was then on the verge of its third bankruptcy within 6 years. After acquiring the company — Ricochet Networks, Inc. — Mitchell streamlined the company’s financials, and repositioned it to suit Homeland Security applications rather than consumers. Four months after Mitchell acquired Ricochet, the company turned its first profit since its inception in 1997. It was successfully acquired by Young Design, Inc. (NAS: YDIW), a nationwide wireless infrastructure company, in June of 2004.

Mitchell and his respective companies have consistently received recognition from both within and outside of the wireless industry. In 2000, Advantage Wireless, Inc. was named the prestigious "Colorado Small Business of the Year" by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. The Denver Business Journal also named Mitchell in the "top 40 under 40" for business executives of Colorado and Mitchell was a finalist in Ernst and Young’s nationally recognized "Entrepreneur of the Year" contest. Mitchell has also been featured on CNN and in Entrepreneur magazine.
