REP. VICTOR MITCHELL WILL NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION

January 15, 2008

Today State Representative Victor Mitchell (R-Castle Rock) announced that he will not seek a second term in the Colorado State Legislature.

Representative Mitchell said "I am truly privileged to represent the citizens of Teller and southern Douglas counties.  It is an honor to serve House District 45 in this dynamic part of Colorado.  And I thank everyone for their support."

"Yet at this time, my business commitments are increasing and require substantially more time than had been anticipated," Vic added.  "My passion for government service remains, as I've always believed that those who benefit from our wonderful economy should give back in gratitude.  I'll just have to postpone devoting full time to it."

During this 2008 Session of the Colorado General Assembly, Representative Mitchell will concentrate on his work with the Business Affairs and Labor Committee and the Legislative Audit Committee.  His focus is on issues that will improve government efficiency and raise education standards. Rep. Mitchell is carrying 6 bills during the session including 3 related to education reform.

Mitchell chose to make his announcement now, to insure that potential House District 45 candidates will have sufficient time to participate in the Republican Party nominating process and that District Republicans will have ample time to choose a new representative.

A life long supporter of the Republican Party, Mitchell intends to remain a strong supporter of Colorado Republicans and their ideals by working with party, candidate, and issue campaigns in coming years.
